Online therapy uses common technologies including phone, video or email to provide therapeutic support and intervention. In order to access this service you must be 19+ years old, have access to a webcam and fast internet. Video calls are recommended, as opposed to telephone or email, in order to provide as close to an in-person experience as possible. Due to legal and ethical regulations, this service is only eligible for California residents at this time.
Is Online Therapy the right modality for me?
This option for therapy is beneficial if you prefer accessing services from the comfort of your own home, or if you travel frequently. It is also optimal if you have health issues that prevent you from attending in-person therapy or if you live in a rural area where therapy services are not as available and you prefer the anonymity of not having a therapist in your small community.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is the treatment I'm most known for, and it's the one I'm most rigorous about. I am Linehan Board Certified -one of the few clinicians in California to hold this credential. For clients with high dysregulation, trauma histories, or BPD, this matters. I offer both individual DBT therapy and skill training. DBT is a powerful form of treatment developed by Marsha Linehan in 1993. It is a highly structured ‘skill based’ model that includes a weekly hour of ‘skills training’ along with a weekly hour of Individual Therapy. Therapy involves homework assigned weekly, as well as a Diary Card to track behaviors that are being targeted to reduce.
This is a time-limited program that operates in a 6-month time frame.
Supportive Client Centered Psychotherapy
For clients whose needs call for something more exploratory and less structured, I integrate somatic awareness, Jungian frameworks, and contemplative approaches to support longer-term identity and relational work. This is where I'll use my blend of knowledge and clinical experience to assist you towards your goals in a personalized way.
I provide trauma informed and culturally responsive care with all my clients.
Online Therapy is not recommended for all individuals or treatment issues. First step would be to schedule a free consultation to determine whether this is the type of service for you.
I offer psychotherapy at a rate that is consistent with my level of expertise and is competitive with other Bay Area practitioners. I offer a limited number of sliding scale openings.
I am out of network with insurance panels however many insurance plans do provide coverage for mental health services, and many of my clients receive full or partial reimbursement depending on their coverage. I provide superbills and use a platform called Mentaya to help clients easily check and submit their benefits to decrease their out of pocket cost. You can also contact your insurance directly.
Questions to ask your insurance provider:
• Do you accept or do you provide reimbursement for out-of-network providers?
• Does the amount paid by my insurance company depend on whether I see a professional who is “in your network or preferred provider list” or “outside the network”?
• If so, what is the difference in the amount paid or percent reimbursement for “in network” vs. “out of network” providers?
• Do I need a diagnosis to get coverage for treatment?
• Is there a specific list of diagnoses for which services are covered?
• What is the amount of my deductible?
• What is the number of mental health visits for which I’m covered? Do you have any limitations regarding number of sessions that are covered for an out-of-network provider?
• Do I need a referral from my primary care physician to see a mental health professional?
Please let me know if and how I can support you in the process of getting insurance coverage for your sessions with me.
